Google’s Nexus One is play on ‘Blade Runner’
So I was reading TechCrunch, and Google has apparently been denied the right to trademark “Nexus One” based on another competing product from Integra Communications. It’s really no problem, considering that Google will probably throw the company a couple of million bucks to drop the matter.
I just found it amusing that the comment devolved rather quickly into an escalating and yet still inane flame war about the iPhone and that Google should have called the phone “gSpot.”
Anyway, as much as Google denies it, it’s really hard to believe that they didn’t rip the name of their flagship phone from Blade Runner and Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? The “androids” or replicants from the movie are Nexus-6 models that look just like human beings but are have superior strength (and a limited lifespan).
Really Google? Android? Nexus-6? You should have really have asked for permission out of respect.
